Mapping It Out

Mapping It Out is a dungeon crawler with a twist - you are the one piecing it all together while you're exploring. With RPG stats and a totally unbalanced weird scaling system that is barely even functional, battle it out and pray to the gods that you somehow survive past a floor or two!

How to play:

The goal of the game is to reach the 'End' tile of each floor (shown as a green tick tile on the dungeon map), and progress deeper until you die.

- WASD to move (W/S = forward/back, A/D turn left/right)

The game is divided into 3 phases:

1. Placement Phase: Join together fragments of the dungeon map (appearing as cards at the bottom of the screen). These can only be joined directly adjacent to other pieces, and have icons that hint to what you'll find in those tiles.

2. Action Phase: Move around the dungeon you've put together with your map, and encounter enemies and loot throughout. You will find items you can drag onto your equipment slots that will make you far more formidable in combat.

3. Combat Phase: Once you enter an enemy tile, you will automatically engage them in a battle to the death. Only one will emerge alive.

Quick Tips:

- If you can't press the '->' or '<-' buttons on the end of level or death screen, try pressing right at the bottom of the button. There is a bug that stops the main part of the button from being clicked, sadly, that was only present in our final submission build.

- Press 'Escape' to restart the game

- If you can't place any more tiles, you must restart - you should have planned your route better! (... or it may be a bug and we're sorry </3)

- Equip items you win in combat or find in chests to keep yourself strong in combat.

DISCLAIMER:  We sadly didn't have time to finish everything and there's a lot of bugs, but we hope you enjoy it regardless <3 We will be uploading a finished, polished version after the Jam voting ends!
